## Review: Logitech Keys-To-Go

I love working from my iPad, but to get any serious work done, I need a real keyboard. At home my go-to is the Apple Magic Keyboard. And while it's my favorite so far it's just a little too thick and heavy to comfortably carry in my bag.

Enter the Logitech Keys-To-Go. This is thinner (it's a consistent thickness all the way across, similar to the thinnest part of the Magic Keyboard. It's lighter. And it has a row of iOS function keys which are nice to have.

The construction is interesting. The actual keys are under a sort of spongy, fabric-like covering (which covers the entire keyboard). It feels pretty solid (there's a small amount of flex, but nothing that strikes me as problematic).

Typing on this proved a little challenging at first. The keys have some travel. Not much, but just enough to feel like real keys. The fabric covering makes it difficult to feel the key boundaries. There are raised nubs on the F and J keys, which helps with getting oriented. Being a smaller keyboard, it feels a little cramped. It's taken a few hours for me to get reasonibly comfortable typing on this, and I'm still a little hesitant. There's no ESC key, which makes using it with *vim* a bit annoying. A couple of the keys are smaller than I'd like (E.g., \ and ~).

I'd have to say that this is not bad considering the design approach. I'll be keeping it in my bag so I can have a lightweight, usable keyboard on the go, but I can't reommend it as a primary keyboard. But if you need a secondary keyboard for occasional use (and can live with smaller keys) it's worth looking at.
